Frequently Asked Questions
What types of services do you offer?
We have automation architects, Sr SDETs, and manual testers. The architect can start a new quality journey and the SDETs can help build out a test suite. We can help with manual testing for many types of QA, including performance testing, exploratory testing, release testing, and legacy support.
What are the benefits of hiring a QA consultant on a flexible basis?
Creating an automated solution should save both time and money. If you have a great automation solution running, ideally this would mean only some maintenance is required from time to time for the running tests, and you may still have a manual tester perform occasional or release testing.
What is the pricing model for your contracts?
We work on an hourly basis, which can change week to week. For example, you might hire an automation architect for 10 hours a week for 2 months, then once you’re happy with the proposed solution(s), switch to a Sr Automation QA for 15 hours a week for 3 months to build out the suite. Lastly, have a manual tester perform load testing with 5 hours per release.
Can you help test legacy systems or software with end-of-life support?
Yes, this is an excellent use of flexible contracting!
Isn’t QA an extra step in the process? Does automated testing really save time?
It depends on who you hire. Many large contracting companies are set up to work with large corporations, so there is a lot of work involved and the benefits are variable. If you hire the right architect, you can actually save development time per feature. By getting the tests closer to your developers, releases are cleaner, developers focus on the new features, and while a best practice is to have some manual testing, fewer bugs go back to development because the automated tests have caught many.
